Maybach 62

Maybach 62 features a 12 Cylinder, SOHC, 5.5 liter engine that can produce 543 horse power.62 is an ultra-luxury sedan (made by Mercedes-Benz), which shockingly proves, that even such expensive cars to build, can turn into profit for car-makers.Due to the fact that we list U.S. prices, Maybach 62 took 9th place. However the European version of Maybach 62 is more expensive than SLR McLaren (7th place) in Europe, while the retail price of U.S. version of the SLR is higher than any Maybach. It may have been more interesting not to include two such similar models from the same manufacturer, but we have decided to stick with the official Forbes list of the most expensive cars.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

Engine: 5.5 liter Supercharged V-8.Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren has been on world's fastest and most expensive cars lists for quite a while now. This car is a fascinating result of a collaboration between two well known car brands: Mercedes and British race car legend McLaren. The delightful SLR McLaren is probably the most sophisticated and comfortable of all street-legal race cars to date. In 2007 most expensive car list this supercar is most likely going to be replaced by its successor Mercedes-Benz SLR 722 Edition.

Porsche Carrera GT

Engine: V-10, DOHC 5.7 liter. Its ten-cylinder engine produces 600hp - the type of power that can rarely be seen outside the racing world.Although some well known auto portals claim that Porsche has stopped selling its Carrera GT supercar. But currently (2006 Dec), Porsche confirms that its $440,000 famous convertible is still available for sale in the U.S. market, thus the car qualifies to be in this list.Made in Germany.

Pagani Zonda Roadster F C12S 7.3, Clubsport version

This Pagani Zonda features an engine that puts out 650 HP, which makes it more powerful than its predecessor Pagani Zonda F and much more powerful than the older Pagani Zonda C12 S.Pagani is a boutique Italian race car maker that specializes in building radical-looking sports cars. This expensive new model has helped the Zonda remain in 2nd place on the most expensive car list, where it ended up in year 2005.Made in Italy.

The Audi TT clubsport quattro

Every Audi TT is noted for its clear lines, unmistakable dynamism and the driving characteristics of a sports car. Audi now presents the TT in its most purist form: the clubsport quattro study. The Audi TT clubsport quattro study reduces the TT Roadster to a pure driving machine. A powerful engine, state-of-the-art technology and numerous traits borrowed from the world of motorsport are the dominant features of the TT clubsport quattro. The goal that the development engineers set themselves for this vehicle study was to achive purism at a premium level. No hood, no A-post instead, a wraparound windscreen kept extremely low which deliberately evokes images of a speedster. The flat, slightly tinted window strip surrounds the cockpit. The panoramic windscreen and the two humps located behind the interior in place of the hood compartment are reminiscent of a racing car. The rollover bars familiar from the TT Roadster are kept flatter and are the same height as the sports bucket seats.

Future Mazda cars

I'm still debating on which cars to purchase: '05 Mazda3 hatchback, '07 Honda Fit, '07 Pontiac Vibe. (I got better deal on newer '07 Royal Blue Pontiac Vibe but I'm still debating on which one is best).Meanwhile, I want to show you all cool cars that I saw on internet. They are all future concept cars. They all make me drool except that weird Honda Step Bus. You'll see why. Anyway, enjoy the show!!

Roadster

For those who are searching for a Prius, but with a bit more kick, they may soon have the option from Musk who made his fortune selling PayPall to ebay. By using a stylish car and adding thousands of AA size rechargeable batteries along with some top quality motors he has a real performer - making 0-60 in as little as 4 seconds. There may be a bit of sticker shock for those accustomed to their $25k Prius since they will be selling for around $100k. Looks like a lot of fun to me, and if any of you decide to get one be sure to let me test drive it so I can add an update to my review.

SSC Ultimate Aero

While most of us can only dream of owning the fastest car in the world, some will do whatever it takes to possess such speed and power. So, how fast are the fastest cars in the world? Here is the 10 fastest cars available on the market measures by top speed.1.SSC Ultimate Aero: 257 mph+, 0-60 in 2.7 secs. Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with 1183 hp, base price is $654,400. Tested in March 2007 by Guinness world records, The SSC Ultimate Aero takes the lead as the fastest car in the world beating Bugatti Veyron

Skycar M400

Moller's latest design, the Skycar M400, is designed to take off and land vertically, like a Harrier Jet, in small spaces. It can reach speeds of 400 mph (644 kph), but will cruise at around 350 mph (563 kph), and it has a range of 900 miles (1449 km). Gasoline, diesel, alcohol, kerosene and propane can be used to fuel the Skycar, and its fuel mileage will be comparable to that of a medium-sized car, getting 20 miles (32.2 km) to the gallon. The initial cost of a Skycar will be about $1 million, but once it begins to be mass produced that price could come down to as low as $60,000.

Bugatti Veyron

With a top speed of 250 miles an hour, the Bugatti Veyron is one of the fastest cars in the world. It’s also a marvel of engineering and design. Oh, and did I mention it’s street legal? Yes, this isn’t one of those Formula 1 cars that you can’t drive on regular roads. This is a car that you could actually buy and drive to work each day. Well, at least you could if you had an extra $1.2 million lying around. Imagine the insurance payments on this car!Anyway, I found this amazing video of the the car and a demonstration of it hitting its top speed on a test track. It’s a little long, but it really is worth watching

Lamborghini Car

Lamborghini car “Murcielago” new year 2008 LP710 is the fastest car by the company so far. New car equipped with rocket engine capacity of 6.2 liter V12 strongly 710 horsepower, the car is accelerating the pace of steadiness to 100 km / hour over 3.2 seconds and start a speed 200 km / hour in less than 10 seconds. The maximum speed of the car amounted to 360 km / hour.

Callaway .. The second fastest car in the world

A giant new car finally fell to U.S. highways, and some roads of Europe, although very limited numbers. It was a car “Kawai CNN Spedestir 16″, built on the platform “C-6 Chevrolet Corvette” from “General Motors”, a car with two seats Rodstr superior had finally reached a maximum speed of 186 miles per hour (1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers) … But with some modifications, particularly for basic processing shipped to the (Super Bhattacharjee) to reach engine power “in” 8 to 700 brake horse, which enabled it to be recorded in the first experiment, speed 210 miles per hour

Oldsmobile Aerotech I

At over 20 years old, the first Aerotech might seem like the geriatric grandpa of this group, but it's here for a good reason. In 1987 race-car legend AJ Foyt drove the Aerotech I to a closed course speed of 257.123 mph, a record that stands to this day. What really impresses me however, is that the engine was no more than a modified version of GM's 2 Litre Turbo Quad 4. Later versions of the Aerotech used a V-8 and broke plenty of other records, but they never quite managed to top AJ's mark.

Weber Sportscars Faster One

Once you reach a certain rarefied level, the line between concept cars and production vehicles becomes pretty blurry. While I'm sure the folks at Weber Sportscars would insist that theirs is a real production car, it's not clear how many running Faster Ones they've actually built. Still, I expect the Swiss company will be happy to take your $1.6 million check should you wish to place an order. When you get your Webber Faster One, (kind of sounds like it was named by an 11 year old), it will have a 900 bhp V-8 with GM LS7 origins, and a claimed top speed of 249 mph

Chrysler ME Four Twelve

Born back in happier times before Chrysler's partnership with Mercedes-Benz fizzled, the ME Four-Twelve concept car proved what could be achieved with their combined gene pool of talent. Using an AMG-developed mid-mounted V-12 engine and four turbos (hence the name), the ME Four-Twelve was supposedly good for 248 mph and goes 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. There was even talk of putting the ME Four Twelve into production, with Chrysler going so far as to crash test one, but those dreams died when the wheels came off the Daimler-Chrysler bus

Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Performance Engineering may be a tiny company, but they have a fairly well-established track record for producing wild modified versions of already outrageous supercars. So when they hand us a drawing and say they're going to build it, we tend to believe them. The 1,000-horsepower Venom GT will use the same engine as their Dodge Viper-based Venom 1000 SRT, but this time it'll be slotted in behind the front seats in this sexy new body. Once it's built, Hennessey's computers say that the Venom GT will be able to hit 260 mph, with a 0-to-60 time of 2.4 seconds. Just the thing for a run down I-95

Acura Advanced Sports Car

It was Acura's mid-engined NSX from 1990 which showed everyone that they were capable of producing more than just gussied-up Hondas, but that old dog finally died a couple of years back. This is what its replacement will look like, and the production version should start rolling off the lines next year. Showing a bit more of Acura's softer, more luxurious side, the ASCC seems more like a fancy GT than it's hair-shirt predecessor. But the rumored V-10 engine, up from the NSX's V-6, should provide plenty of grunt. Acura hasn't yet provided any performance figures, so it's place in the pecking order is hard to determine.

GM EcoJet

Most people know that Jay Leno is a major car nut, but how many realize that he's also passionate about the environment? Of course his idea of a green-friendly supercar is somewhat removed from the norm, and after going through several design ideas on the back of a napkin, this is what he and his team came up with. The EcoJet is based around Corvette C6 chassis components housed under a sleek Cadillac-inspired body, but instead of a big V-8, there's a Honeywell LT-101 jet engine that runs on biodiesel mounted behind the seats. That's good for about 650 horsepower, although other performance figures were not released.

How to Make the Best Deals at Rental Car Agencies

car-rentalJust getting off the airplane, stepping up to the rental-car counter and presenting your credit card is not the best idea. To get a better deal:

* Skip the airport agency. They have to charge more because of high overhead, higher fees and taxes. If you haven’t made a reservation, take the shuttle downtown and rent from there.

* Even better, call the direct number of the local agency where you will pick up the car. The agency could offer a deal.

* Bring a digital camera, advises Peter Greenberg, in The Contrarian Traveler. If there is any damage to the car, take pictures of it. Show them to the agent and get his or her name.

* Check for discounts offered by affiliated hotels, airlines, AAA and American Express, and others.

* If they make you pay for a full tank in the beginning, bring it back with very little gas. If you have the option of bringing the car back with a full tank, fill it up. The agency will charge about twice the price you will pay elsewhere for gas.

* If you need a car for only one day, rent it on Saturday morning. You may be able to do errands all day for a bargain price.

* Think twice about the insurance. Check to see if you are covered by your own car insurance. Some credit card companies provide collision insurance if their card is used.

* If renting online, keep checking the Website for special deals. The agency will lower your price accordingly, if you ask them to do it.
